Ceylon Ebony is a jet black colored hardwood with light brown or reddish brown streaks. It does not have gray streaking that is common in Gabon or other Equatorial West Coast African Ebony; it is a closer color match to Madagascar Ebony's pure black. It is suitable for guitar and ukulele fingerboards and bridge blanks. Streaked Ebony boards have crisp defined lines that are visually stunning. This is one of the rarest Ebonies on the World market. There is a chainsaw nick on one edge that is visible in the pictures. The last one third the pieces twist a little bit. They are not perfectly flat but they will bend just fine.

The back set has a 1/8" twist on each piece that lays flat with 2 oz. of pressure. There are a couple pin holes on the back set that falls outside the template.

This beautiful Ziricote wood has been kiln dried, surfaced on two sides, and is generally sealed on the ends. Some lumber will have occasional very faint hairline checks in black streaks or a minor end check that should be easy to work with or around. These are usually near or on the sapwood; they are very small and minor. This wood is exceptionally high quality A grade material. Please look at the pictures to see coverage of sapwood on faces. This is the same material that we use to cut instrument sets that are sold to larger instrument companies.
